Introduction to the Paris to Normandy River Cruise

The Sensational Seine is your destination on this river cruise, as you cruise from Paris, through the delightful vistas of the Seine Valley, to the Normandy Coast and Honfleur. With the cruiser docking in the heart of the town and all your meals included, this is a great opportunity to discover the history and culture that lines the Seine.

Itinerary

DAY 1. Paris

On arrival in Paris you will be transferred to Quai de Bercy for boarding. Boarding in Paris between 18h and 19h. Settling into your cabin. Welcome cocktail in the lounge and presentation of the crew. Dinner and departure of the cruise through the marvellously illuminated city. Overnight stopover.

DAY 2. Paris

Buffet breakfast on board. This day will be entirely devoted to the optional tour of Paris, which will begin with a half day tour exploring the mythical places of the city, such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysées. Lunch on board. Afternoon free for your personal exploration of Paris. Dinner on board. Free evening or optional evening in a cabaret bar. Overnight stopover.

DAY 3. Vernon

Breakfast on board. Arrival in Honfleur depending on the tides. The morning will be devoted to the optional guided tour of the town on foot, with its fishing port, its picturesque streets with their old houses, the salt lofts and Saint Catherine’s church, built entirely of wood. (NB: the order of the excursions may be modified depending on our arrival time). Back to the boat for lunch. In the afternoon, optional excursion to the Côte Fleurie, Trouville, Deauville, tour of a distillery where the famous Calvados is made. Back on board around 18h. Dinner. We will then cast off to leave the port of Honfleur. We will be passing under the superb Pont de Normandie before heading up the Seine.

DAY 4. Caudebec en Caux

Departure of the cruise early in the morning. Buffet breakfast on board and journey through a magnificent landscape of steep cliffs, at the foot of which are a number of charming little villages typical of the region. Lunch during the cruise. Arrival in Caudebec en Caux around 13h. Departure for the optional guided excursion along “the Abbey Trail”. The tour will begin with the church at Caudebec en Caux, which dates from the 15th century, and then on via Jumièges where one of the most beautiful abbeys in France can be found, along with the church of Saint Peter, which is one of the most beautiful examples of 10th century Norman architecture. Back on board around 18h. Departure of the boat (depending on the tides) for Honfleur.

DAY 5. Honfleur

After breakfast, we propose an optional excursion to the Côte Fleurie. It alternates between sandy beaches and low cliffs – a host of romantic landscapes which captured the imagination of the poets and painters of the 19th century. Passing via Trouville and Deauville, and stopping on the way to taste some Calvados. Back to the boat for lunch. The afternoon will be devoted to the optional guided tour of Honfleur. At the foot of the Côte de Grâce, the town will charm you with its old port, Saint Catherine’s church, made entirely of wood, its old streets and its dock area with its flotilla of fishing boats. Back on board. Dinner, free evening.

DAY 6. Rouen

Departure of the boat early in the morning. Breakfast during the cruise through a wonderful valley where the play of light captured the imagination of the Impressionist painters and poets alike. We will be sailing under the majestic Pont de Normandie. Lunch on board. Arrival in Rouen around 14h. Optional guided tour of Rouen on which you will discover, among other things, the Cathedral, the historic neighbourhoods, and the Place du Vieux Marché where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Back on board. Dinner and evening of entertainment. Overnight stopover.

DAY 7. Les Andelys

After breakfast, departure of the cruise for Les Andelys, passing through the lock at Amfreville. Arrival in Les Andelys around noon. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, optional visit to the chateau of Vascœuil, a unique place according to Jules Michelet where art, history and nature come together in perfect harmony. Back on board for dinner followed by a gala evening. Departure of the cruise.

DAY 8. Paris

Breakfast on board. At 10h, this magnificent cruise will come to an end. You will be picked up from the port and brought back to the airport for your return flight to Dublin

Accommodation details

River Cruiser

WELCOME ONBOARD…

Our crew will welcome you when you come aboard and will accompany you to your cabin. A welcome drink will be served in the lounge bar when the crew is introduced. We will also give you full information on the cruise and present the various excursions which punctuate the journey at our ports of call.

Host(ess)

This person is present throughout the cruise. S/he will organise pre-meal games, the evenings and the aerobics sessions, and will provide you with information on the places we travel through. S/he will accompany you on your “exploratory” walks in certain towns. We call upon local guides, however, during excursions and tours.

Entertainment

Apart from the various ports of call which punctuate your cruise, a certain number of events and entertainments will be available depending on the duration of your cruise: pre-meal games, aerobics, evening with the crew, gala evening, dancing.

Shop

Here you will find postcards, stamps, souvenirs and practical items.

Cabins

All of our cabins have a large picture window and are air conditioned. They are fitted with a bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC. Bath towels are provided. For your comfort, they also have satellite television, radio, a hairdryer and a safe. Depending on the boat, our cabins have twin beds, a double bed or 2 beds which can be separated. The voltage on board is 220V. A telephone allows you to call other cabins, reach reception or programme your wake-up call, but you cannot call or be called from outside the boat.

Do not forget to leave your keys at reception at the end of your cruise.

Drinks Card

Aboard our boats, your drinks purchases (during meals and at the bar) are made using drinks cards worth € 15 or € 50. These can be purchased at the bar during the cruise. When you order drinks, the value of your order is ticked off. At the end of the cruise, any value remaining on the card will be refunded.

Captain

This person is responsible for navigation and the crew (sailors, helmsmen). In the event of climatic variation, the captain alone is entitled to decide to modify the itinerary of the cruise. He will also allow you to visit the bridge.

Purser

This person is responsible for catering and accommodation aboard the boat. In a sense, he is the boat’s conductor and is in direct relation with the passengers. Efficient and discreet, he will be ever-present and helpful during your cruise.

Excursions

The excursions offered are optional. If you did not book them when booking your cruise, you may do so on board (find out about all of the excursions offered on this river at the end of this document).

Smoking / Non Smoking

The entire boat is no smoking (cabin, dining room, corridors, reception, etc. The lounge bar is the only place where a distinction is made between smoking and no smoking areas.

Doctor

There is no doctor on board. If needed, the Purser will contact the closest medical service.

Sun Deck

The ideal place to enjoy the fresh air and a wonderful view of the landscape. It is laid out with armchairs and deck chairs provided free of charge.

Tipping

Tipping is left to the discretion of the customer.

Reception

Reception is manned every day, morning and afternoon (except on boarding and disembarkation days). You will be informed of this on board.
